Sexual Harassment and Assault: Is Your Club’s Policy Up to Date?

2017 proved to be a year of unprecedented charges and acknowledgments of sexual harassment across all businesses—and the fallout for those companies unprepared to deal with allegations has been significant. The private club industry is as susceptible, if not more, to the risks of potential lawsuits and unsafe work environments. In response to numerous member requests, we are pleased to share a sample policy for sexual harassment from Edina Country Club.

This policy is part of the club’s employee handbook, initially made available through the National Club Association’s publication, HR Management: Best Practices for Private Clubs, which provides a wealth of information for club managers on all topics related to proper human resource management.
