It’s been a busy January at the National Club Association. President & CEO Joe Trauger and Vice President, Sales Katina Cavagnaro traveled to Orlando, Fla.,for the PGA Show. Trauger visited several NCA member clubs in the area over the following days including Windsor Club, Loblolly, Jonathan’s Landing, RedStick, Country Club at Mirasol and St. Andrew’s Country Club.

Toward the end of the month, Trauger attended the New York City CMAA Chapter’s City Club Summit at the New York Athletic Club.

NCA issued its 2023 Annual Report detailing the association’s activities during the year, and was pleased to announce the renewal of its Strategic Alliance Corporate Partnership with Club Benchmarking for the eighth year.

NCA issued a Member Alert on the U.S. Department of Labor’s final Independent Contractor Rule, which makes it more difficult to classify workers as contractors instead of employees. It goes into effect March 11.

Two new speakers were announced for the 2024 National Club Conference!

  • Joel White, president of the Council for Affordable Healthcare Coverage (CAHC) will lead a session on Health Care Costs: Why Are They Going Up and What Can Be Done?, where will provide conference attendees the background they need to understand what’s happening and discuss what Congress and the administration are doing and the policies we need to reduce the cost of coverage.
  • Jim Butler, CEO of Club Benchmarking, will present The Economics of Private Clubs in the U.S.: the findings of a new economic impact study jointly commissioned by Club Benchmarking, the National Club Association and the Club Management Association of America.

NCA’s 20th Conference, April 28-30 at the new Omni PGA Frisco Resort, Texas, will bring a host of top-notch speakers, opportunities to meet and get to know others in the club community (including two topic-specific networking roundtable lunches), the half-day, closed-door Governance Symposium for club presidents and board members, and the optional and social activities NCC is known for—including several at the newly-opened PGA Headquarters—including this year’s golf tournament at the newly-renovated Queen’s Course at Gleneagles Country Club, and a session at the amazing Middleby Innovation Kitchens.
