NCA Monthly: October

NCA Monthly – Nov. 1
Please enjoy the inaugural NCA Monthly! The National Club Association (NCA) had an exciting October monitoring and updating members on what’s happening on the hill, providing regular and timely and webcasts and educational events to members and much more. Below is our October showcase highlighting the information clubs need most.

Advocacy: NCA reached out to members this month for feedback on how proposed changes to federal overtime laws might affect private clubs and their employees. With significant changes proposed to the overtime salary threshold, which would jump to $55,000 per year from the current $35,586 per year, among other changes, NCA will submit comments to the Department of Labor on behalf of the private club industry—so member feedback is critical. Learn more and submit yours here.

Issues: NCA is watching include possible H-2B changes, continued action around hospitality and leisure job growth, Waters of the United States (WOTUS) regulations, proposed independent contractor rule changes and the possibility of a federal shutdown, particularly with no Speaker of the House in place. Details were sent to members in the Washington Weekly Update: Oct. 2, Oct. 10, Oct. 16, Oct. 23 and Oct. 30.

Championship Club Conference: Clubs that host championship golf tournaments (PGA Tour, LPGA Tour, USGA, Korn Ferry, Epson, and others) along with clubs that hope to host them in the future are invited to join NCA for its first Championship Club Conference, Nov. 13, for a day of idea-sharing, collaboration and networking with leaders of like-minded clubs.GMs, presidents, board members, and staff will hear from presenters from Augusta National Golf Club, Congressional Country Club, Winged Foot Golf Club and the USGA on the challenges, logistics and rewards of hosting elite golf tournaments, with ample time for conversation and networking over lunch and at a closing cocktail reception. The conference runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Army Navy Country Club, which is less than six miles from Reagan National Airport, and space is limited. Learn more and reserve yours at at nationalclub.org/ccc. Nonmembers are welcome.
