Natural Disasters: Preparing For the Unthinkable

As summer wears on, clubs continue to face the serious threat of extreme weather and natural disasters. Across the U.S. wildfires rage, including 17 in California alone, and hurricane season is about to hit its peak.

Last year, The Fountaingrove Club in Santa Rosa, Calif, was severely damaged by the historic Tubbs Fire, as featured in NCA’s summer issue of Club Director. Also in 2017, hundreds of clubs both in Texas and Florida were significantly impacted by hurricanes Harvey and Irma. In response to the Florida storm, The Florida Chapter of CMAA in conjunction with NCA and Club Benchmarking, released an in-depth report on the impact of Hurricane Irma on Florida clubs.
