NCA is New Co-Sponsor of the Excellence in Club Management Awards

(Washington, D.C., August 23, 2018) – The National Club Association (NCA) is excited to announce that it is joining McMahon Group and Club & Resort Business magazine as a co-sponsor of the Excellence in Club Management® Awards. Founded by McMahon Group in 1997, this annual award recognizes private club general managers, managers and chief operating officers who have exhibited outstanding skills in managing their club.

NCA President and CEO Henry Wallmeyer said, “These first-in-class awards are one of the highest honors in the private club industry and we could not be more thrilled to lend our support. NCA has long served on the selection committee and we know first-hand the outstanding men and women who have won, and we are pleased to be able to further benefit the industry by taking a next step and co-sponsor the awards.

“NCA will further support the awards and its winners by scheduling a panel presentation every year at our National Club Conference to highlight the managers’ and clubs’ successes and provide a complimentary registration to the winners.”

“McMahon Group and Club & Resort Business magazine welcome the National Club Association as a co-sponsor of the Excellence in Club Management® Awards Program. NCA has been a primary participant in the Award’s program since its inception 22 years ago,” said William McMahon, Chairman of McMahon Group. “NCA brings its support and prestige of representing the leading private clubs in the nation to the process of recognizing outstanding achievement by the best of the best in the club management profession.

“The award’s program was founded to recognize outstanding managers and rising stars within the club world who are primarily responsible for the excellent private clubs we have today. Great clubs do not happen by accident. It takes a great club manager to have a great club.”

“We look forward to having NCA join us and the McMahon Group to help shine an even brighter light on the accomplishments of the club industry’s most exemplary managers and ‘Rising Stars,’” said Joe Barks, Editor of Club & Resort Business magazine.

Since 2011, the Excellence in Club Management® Awards have been named after distinguished club managers who have advanced their clubs and the profession. Winners are selected for each of the following categories:

  • The James H. Brewer Award: Country/Golf Club with 600 or more full privilege members
  • The Mead Grady Award: Country/Golf Club with under 600 full privilege members
  • The Mel Rex Award: City/Athletic/Specialty (Non-Golf) Club
  • The Rising Star Award: Assistant Managers

Private clubs are encouraged to nominate their managers by submitting a nomination form by October 31, 2018. Additional information about the awards and details about the nomination process can be found at clubmanageraward.com.
