Winners of private club industry’s premier awards to be celebrated April 29
The National Club Association and McMahon Group congratulate the winners of this year’s Excellence in Club Management® Awards, announced this morning. Now in their 26th year, the annual awards recognize private club general managers and chief operating officers who have exhibited outstanding skills in managing their clubs.
This year’s winners are:
- Steven Freund, ECM, The Landings Golf & Athletic Club, Savannah, Ga.: The James H. Brewer Award (country/golf club with 600 or more full-privilege members).
- Mark Sure, ECM, Riviera Country Club, Coral Gables Fla.: The Mead Grady Award (country/golf club with fewer than 600 full-privilege members).
- Charles Johnson, MBA, CCM, ECM, Detroit Athletic Club, Detroit Mich.: The Mel Rex Award (city/athletic/specialty club).
- David Main, MBA, PGA, ECM, Toronto Lawn Tennis Club, Toronto, Ontario: The John Furlong Award (Canadian club).
- Ryan Bender, CCM, ECM, The Country Club of Virginia, Richmond, Va.: The Rising Star Award (assistant managers).
The awards are co-sponsored by McMahon Group, St. Louis, Mo.; and the National Club Association (NCA), Alexandria, Va. Awards are presented at the annual Excellence in Club Management® Awards Dinner & Gala, part of the NCA’s National Club Conference, held this year April 28-30 in Frisco, Texas. The Dinner & Gala is sponsored by KOPPLIN KEUBLER & WALLACE. Award winners are also honored in ceremonies at their clubs.
