NCA’s Washington Weekly Update 5-3-21

Situational Awareness
The House and Senate are not in session this week. The House will be conducting some committee business in preparation for a return next week.

OSHA COVID-19 Temporary Standard Under Review
Last week, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) sent the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA) an emergency temporary standard (ETS) on COVID-19 for review. Details of what’s contained in the ETS have not been released. OIRA reviews typically take up to three weeks before the rule is released to the public. NCA and allied business groups have taken the position that OSHA should continue its current practice of issuing industry-specific standards as a way of maintaining agility in a fast-changing environment. Once the rule is released to the public there is likely to be a comment period and NCA will provide its input.

National Golf Day, May 10-12
National Golf Day will be conducted virtually this year on May 10 and virtual meetings with Representatives and Senators will be held on Wednesday, May 12. National Golf Day is an annual event to celebrate the game’s $84.1 billion economy and nearly $4 billion annual charitable impact as well as many environmental and fitness benefits. You can find out more about this year’s National Golf Day here..

NCA Legislative Briefings
A quick reminder to let you know that I am available for legislative and general government relations briefings for any meetings you have coming up. If you are holding meetings in-person I am happy to join you for a presentation or can do so virtually. The change in administration and control of the Senate means the landscape has changed significantly so it is important to stay on top of the latest developments. You can email me at [email protected] to discuss content and arrangements.

Sign Up for ClubPAC!
One important aspect of NCA’s government relations program is ClubPAC, which is the private club community’s political action committee. ClubPAC provides an avenue for the club community to support candidates and build relationships with representatives and senators on both sides of the aisle. Participation in ClubPAC is voluntary and you can sign up by filling out a prior authorization form to be added to our list of club leaders receiving information about our political engagement. Clubs can sign up here and associate members can sign up here.
