Setting Members Up for Success: A Guide for Private Club Onboarding offers a how-to guide for successful new memberships

The National Club Association (NCA) recently published Setting Members Up for Success: A Guide for Private Club Onboarding, a comprehensive guide to welcoming new members from first contact through their first year with the club. Published for club GMs/CEOs and board and committee members, the new resource was developed by NCA’s Insight and Resource Development Committee and is available to NCA members at no charge.

A thoughtfully designed onboarding experience cultivates belonging, inspires engagement, and encourages stewardship of the club’s legacy. Through best practices in onboarding, clubs can ensure that every new member feels welcomed, informed, and empowered to contribute meaningfully to the life of the club. The guide provides private club leaders with a practical framework for building a structured onboarding process, from pre-membership expectations through the first year of membership.

Developed by NCA’s Insight and Resources Development Committee, composed of industry-leading club managers, staff and experts, the guide offers insight into how clubs can welcome, educate and integrate new members in ways that foster belonging, encourage engagement and support stewardship of the club’s legacy, from pre-membership, through the first 60 days of new membership, through the new member’s one-year anniversary and beyond.

“Strategic and carefully designed onboarding helps new members make the most of their clubs and helps clubs ensure a great fit from the first inquiry,” said Joe Trauger, president & CEO of the National Club Association. “We’re grateful to our Insight and Resource Development Committee for developing this new publication and look forward to our clubs putting its strategies into action.”
