Data is everywhere in the club industry, and much of it is wrong. Not maliciously, but due to biased samples, missing context, and metrics that measure something other than what they claim to measure. Drawing on years of member research and club advisory work, including the surveys, focus groups, and insights operators actually use to make decisions, this interactive session builds the one skill the dashboards can't give you: the judgment to tell whether a number deserves your trust before you act on it.
We'll work through real examples of data gone wrong. You'll learn to ask the questions that separate signal from noise: Where did this come from? Who's missing from it? What would it look like if the opposite were true? Along the way, we'll dig into the quirks that trip up even careful leaders, like why NPS can lurch wildly between surveys (small samples and a scoring system that throws away most of the scale), and tackle the newer hazards of AI-generated "insights" and the pseudo-research dressed up in industry whitepapers.
You'll leave able to pressure-test the numbers you're handed, push back on the ones that don't hold up, and know the difference between informed judgment and the “gut feeling” that bad data is counting on.
