Private Club Governance: A Handbook of Principles and Best Practices was created to help club leaders bridge the gap between governance theory and practical application. Since its release, it has been downloaded more than 4,000 times, becoming one of the most valuable and widely used governance resources in the private club industry. Its success is a direct result of the feedback, examples, and insights shared by club professionals like you.
To continue that spirit of collaboration, the NCA Joint Governance Committee is now inviting submissions of governance-related documents and templates to be considered for inclusion in the appendix of the updated Governance Handbook. These samples will help turn best practices into actionable tools for all clubs.
The section of the Governance Handbook your document relates to, chosen from the list below:
Chapter II – Board Nominations and Elections: e.g., sample nominating process, board profile worksheet, or uncontested election language.
Chapter III – Board Policies Manual (BPM): e.g., board member expectations, officer election process, consent agenda format, or GM/COO evaluation form.
Chapter IV – Committee Structures and Charters: e.g., committee charter templates, recruitment and appointment matrix, or committee evaluation forms.
Chapter V – Board Orientation and Education: e.g., board orientation outline, annual governance calendar, or onboarding checklist for new board members.
Chapter VI – Strategic Planning and Alignment Tools: e.g., mission/vision/values worksheet, board KPI dashboard, or annual goal-setting framework.
Permission statement confirming whether we may include your club’s name if your submission is selected for publication.
Once received, all materials will be reviewed by the NCA Joint Governance Committee to ensure alignment with the Governance Handbook’s best practices. The Committee will then recommend selected documents to NCA and CMAA staff for final inclusion in the appendix.
Your contribution will help strengthen the governance foundation across the private club industry and give your peers practical tools to elevate their own board performance and structure.
