National Club Association Announces Winners of First Club Director Photo Contest

Alexandria, Va.: The National Club Association (NCA) is pleased to announce the winners of its inaugural Club Director magazine photo contest. Launched in October, the contest drew nearly 150 submissions in six categories from member clubs.

Keith Kucinski, member and volunteer leader of The Tuxedo Club, Tuxedo Park, N.Y., won Best in Show with his photo of a red-tailed hawk perched atop a fifth green flagstick on the club’s golf course—an unusual moment to say the least. Kucinski’s photo will appear on the cover of the winter 2023 issue of Club Director and he was awarded a free registration to the 2023 National Club Conference, May 7-9, in Chicago.

Category winners are:

  • Celebrations: Derek Sidley, Park Ridge Country Club, Park Ridge, Ill.
  • Clubhouse: Carla Waldron, The Country Club of Virginia, Richmond, Va.
  • Food & Beverage: Toni Littleton, The Elk River Club, Banner Elk, N.C.
  • Funny & Offbeat: Amanda Lorenzo, Fiddler’s Elbow Country Club, Bedminster, N.J.
  • Grounds & Landscape: Patrick Joyce, The Country Club of Jackson, Jackson, Miss.
  • People: Emma Smith-Hogan, The Union League Club of Philadelphia.

“Our judges had a difficult—but very fun—task choosing the winners of this year’s photo contest,” said Joe Trauger, president & CEO of the National Club Association. “It was great to see so many fantastic photographs of our member clubs and the creativity and talent of the staff and members who entered. We’re looking forward to doing it again later this year.”

Winning and runner-up photos will appear in the winter 2023 issue of Club Director, the association’s flagship publication covering news and trends in the private club industry. The magazine is available to members at nationalclub.org, on the NCA mobile app, and by mail.  This year’s photo contest will open in October.
