Moving Forward

THE NATIONAL CLUB ASSOCIATION has delivered, in a massive way, since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic. We have produced timely and insightful webinars, created an award-nominated Coronavirus Resource Center website, and delivered relevant and immensely informative newsletters—all for the entire club community. This work helped private clubs across the country work through the roughest part of the pandemic while simultaneously providing many clubs and their boards an introduction to an association that they might not have heard of or knew what it did.

While it was great to receive the recognition about our COVID-19 work, it is important for all to know that NCA is not a COVID-19 association. We are so much more. This was just a great example of the type of work we do. We will continue to produce necessary, timely and relevant information on COVID-19 to help clubs, but we are also moving forward in other areas.

NCA is in the final stages of launching a new website centered around a robust search engine providing access to 1,000+ resources including feature articles on a wide range of topics, 50 Club Trends case studies, 150 governance resources and 12 full publications. Along with making it easier to read and navigate, we also made the web site easier to access all aspects of the website through a single sign-on process. See more on the website on page 28. To complement the website, NCA will also be launching an app to enable even easier access to our resources.

We are excited for NCA’s 2021 National Club Conference May 23–25 at Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo, Fla. While the 2020 Conference, set for Ocean Reef, was cancelled, we look forward to a full slate of education and activities, including events at Key Largo Anglers Club and Card Sound Golf Club, at the Conference next year. Look for more information on the Conference and we look forward to getting together again.

Unfortunately, with the cancellation of this year’s Conference, we were not able to publicly recognize NCA Chair Terra Waldron for her year of tremendous service as Chair of the NCA Board of Directors. I thank her for being a guiding light during her tenure—especially the last three months. I also thank Joe Bendy, Frank Vain and Kevin Vitale for their leadership and service to the board of directors for nine years as their terms have concluded.

At our board meeting in May, we welcomed our new board members, officers and our new Chair, Christine Pooler. I encourage you to read Christine’s column on page 4 where she shares how NCA educates and provides knowledge to the club community, as well as the profile of her on page 16 to learn more about the leader of your association for the next year.

We were glad to be the industry’s resource during the initial throes of the pandemic, but we are even more excited to be moving forward to fully serve our members and the industry.
