NCA’s Story— Fit for Hollywood

I AM SURE MANY OF YOU have looked back to see what the story was for your club in 2017. I hope it was a story of elevated membership experience, strong financial performance and instructive governance by a dedicated group of volunteers.

For the National Club Association (NCA), our story included affecting positive change on legislative and regulatory issues with the new administration, delivering top quality periodicals and publications, broadening NCA’s and the private club industry’s presence, and delivering the “best National Club Conference ever.” The 2017 Conference in New York City broke attendance records as we learned from featured speakers Eric Trump, golf course designer Rees Jones and George Bodenheimer, former president and now acting chairman of ESPN, and capped o a night at the famed Friars Club with an unforgettable dinner and comedy routine.

In 2018, NCA’s opportunities continue: Advocating on behalf of the industry both at federal level and state level; generating new resources for improved club governance and operations— especially from a financial and data perspective; and making the 2018 National Club Conference the best one ever.

On April 16–18, the 15th Annual National Club Conference will be held in Los Angeles for the first time ever, and I invite you to join us for this special event. Conference education will be held at the historic Millennium Biltmore Hotel and along with club-specific education, attendees will gain insight from executives such as Peter Ueberroth, Entrepreneur and Humanitarian; Chip Brewer, President & CEO, Callaway Golf Co.; Bill Walshe, Chief Executive Officer, Viceroy Hotel Group; and Jose Villa, Founder & President, Sensis.

This is just the beginning. We are in the process of finalizing additional speakers that will make this an event one that only Hollywood could do.

Special social and dining events will be held at prestigious L.A. venues. The California Club will host the conference’s opening reception, and the conference’s reception and dinner will take place oceanside at The Jonathan Beach Club. An optional private movie studio tour and screening at RealD Studios, the world’s visual technology leader, will also be available.

New to the 2018 Conference will be the Board Appreciation Dinner. This invitation-only event will take place on April 15, at the Academy of Magical Arts in Los Angeles—the “most sought-after dinner destination in Los Angeles” and “one of Los Angeles’ most prized (and private) landmarks.”

Invitees to this special event will include NCA and NCA Foundation board of directors, corporate partners, conference sponsors, and individuals who have given to ClubPAC, NCA’s political action committee. We look forward to seeing you in Los Angeles and joining us for the 2018 National Club Conference, and I hope your club’s 2018 will be its best year ever.
