NCA Announces New Directors and Officers: Frank J. Vain Elected as Secretary

(Washington, D.C., May 31, 2016) – The National Club Association (NCA) board of directors recently met in Chicago, in conjunction with NCA’s annual National Club Conference, where it elected new board members and officers. The mission of NCA, a Washington, D.C.-based trade association, is to defend, protect and advance the interests and well-being of private, social and recreational clubs.

Frank J. Vain, President of McMahon Group, Inc., in St. Louis, was elected as the new Secretary of the NCA board of directors. He provides consulting and planning services to private clubs throughout North America and Asia. Through use of specialized services including membership surveys, strategic planning, operational analysis and facility long-range planning, Vain assists clubs in developing individualized strategies for their unique situations.

Vain joined McMahon Group, Inc., in 1988 and has more than 30 years of experience in the management and development of hospitality properties including private clubs, athletic clubs, resorts and restaurants. He is a former partner in Concord Sports Club and past president of The Country Club of St. Albans.

Vain is a native of Philadelphia and a graduate of Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa. He is a featured speaker at regional chapter meetings of club managers and at college hotel/restaurant management departments. He has written numerous articles that have been published in Club Director and Club Management magazines. Since its inception in 1991, Vain has researched and produced McMahon’s Club Trends®, now a joint project with NCA, and a recognized industry benchmark on the trends and issues affecting private clubs.

Additional officers elected to the NCA board include Ted M. Benn, Partner at Thompson & Knight LLP, in Dallas, as the new Chair and Kevin P. Vitale, General Manager/COO of Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J., as the new Vice Chair. Kevin R. Reilly, a Partner at PBMares, LLP, in Fairfax, Va., will continue his role as Treasurer. The Immediate Past Chair is Philip R. Kiester, General Manager at The Country Club of Virginia in Richmond, Va.

Two new directors were elected to the NCA board for three-year terms: Lou DiLorenzo, a member of the Board of Governors at Interlachen Country Club in Edina, Minn., and Malcolm MacColl, President of the Board of Governors at The Westmoor Club in Nantucket, Mass.
